You can visit any convenience store, restaurant or coffee shop and find a decent cup of coffee. However, a true coffee connoisseur will also often want to enjoy a fine cup of coffee right at home. This means that they need a coffee machine that suits both their tastes and their lifestyle.
Lots of coffee machines these days are ideal for people who are always dashing around. These machines are easy to use and quickly brew up a pot of coffee. Others are made especially for fine specialty coffees, and involve more effort on your part in preparation of the brew. Italian coffee machines fit into this category.
Some machines, like the Keurig coffee maker, are able to brew just one cup at a time. These are perfect for people who live alone, as well as for those households where there are varying tastes in coffee blends. They let you choose the kind of coffee that fits your mood at any particular time.
The most convenient of these single cup coffee machines feature coffee that is packaged in individual servings. You simply pop one of these little pods into your coffee maker and in less than a minute you have a perfectly brewed single serving of coffee.
There are other single serving coffee machines that follow the more typical brewing method. You measure your ground coffee into a filter, fill the machine with water, and place your mug in the specified location. The coffee is brewed directly into your cup, and there are no leftovers to throw away.
Most coffee machines, however, are made to brew coffee in larger quantities. These vary greatly in complexity and features, not to mention price. Most of these machines use the drip or filter system of brewing coffee. First, ground coffee is measured into the filter unit. Then you fill the receptacle with fresh water, where it is heated before being passed through the filter. And out comes a pot of coffee.
There is also a type of coffee machine known as a French press. This is actually quite low tech in comparison to the more elaborate machines described above, but many people love the taste of this preparation method. The basic unit is a slim glass carafe known as a cafetiere. You fill it with ground coffee and hot water. The specially designed lid contains a filter which is gently lowered to the bottom in order to trap the grounds so they don’t escape when you pour the coffee.
Another type of specialized coffee machines is the espresso maker. These machines are designed to maintain the correct pressure and temperature required to make a fine cup of espresso. The pressure has to be around eight bar and the temperature approximately 85 degrees Celsius. These machines are also useful for making latte and cappuccino. A special attachment heats and froths the milk in order to create the foam required for these specialty coffees.Related Articles:
